Assistant Program Manager (Registered Nurse)

Minneapolis VA Medical Center Outpatient Cardiology

 

The Assistant Program Manager is crucial to this department and is accountable for providing leadership and direction to nursing staff in this outpatient environment.  In collaboration with the Program Manager, the Assistant Program Manager assumes responsibility and accountability for the day to day clinical operation and patient flow. This includes the management, supervision and evaluation of care delivered by the 60+ nursing staff in the department.  The Assistant Program Manager is also responsible for contributing to the establishment and implementation of evidenced-based nursing standards of practice.

 

In this role, s/he demonstrates a high level of clinical expertise, leadership, and creative approaches to the management of complex care. This RN provides first line supervision and oversight for the administration of leave, counseling and disciplinary actions for assigned staff in collaboration with the Program Manager.

 

Work schedule:  Full time, primarily day shift, however hours are variable to meet program demands. This position has the potential to require some off tours, weekend and holiday work.

Education/Experience Requirements: Baccalaureate or Master's degree in nursing plus 2 years of nursing leadership experience.
