General Summary:

Under general supervision following established policies, procedures, professional guidelines, delivers care to patient’s pre, during and post procedure.  Assists physician performing procedure to include but not limited to catheterizations, interventions, electrophysiology and implants.  Implements patient care; documents patient assessments and flow of procedure; identifies and reports situations requiring intervention; communicates goals and plan of care; assures patient rights.  Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the values of Tampa General Hospital and the principles of FOCUS-PDCA.

 

The Electrophysiology Lab CVT demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to patients in the EP Lab.  Assumes responsibility for patient testing, quality control, quality improvement, and equipment maintenance.  Assists physicians in diagnosing and treatment of patients with electrical arrhythmia's by way of EP studies and ablations.  Demonstrates ability to operate and troubleshoot electrophysiological recording and mapping systems, RF and Cryo ablation equipment.  Must be able to demonstrate to physicians a comprehensive knowledge of EKG’s, EP diagnostic catheters, sheaths and ablation catheters. These individuals are the primary personnel for the Cardiac Rhythm Management patient population in the cardiac cath lab.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of accredited program in Cardiovascular Technology or equivalent experience. 
  • BCLS
  • ARRT with CV registry eligible or CCI with RCIS registry eligible
  • Two year progressive experience in a hospital cardiac cath lab.
