Department of Health and Human Services National Institutes of Health National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute CATHETERIZATION TECHNOLOGIST FOR NOVEL PROCEDURES: “BEST TECH JOB EVER” The National Heart Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI), Cardiovascular Intervention Program seeks a full-time CARDIOVASCULAR TECHNOLOGIST to help develop new interventional procedures for structural heart disease. We are a small program with a big impact. Our lab has invented the transcaval, LAMPOON, BASILICA, mitral cerclage annuloplasty procedures, among many others. The laboratory works on both patients and animals, and is located at the NIH Clinical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. We seek an enthusiastic hands-on technologist to train with, and replace, a retiring team member who assists cardiologists to develop and test new treatments for structural heart disease in adults and children. This position is different from most catheterization technologist jobs. The ideal candidate will have 5 or more years of experience in structural or coronary interventional procedures in adults or children, a strong aptitude for equipment details and new concepts, and interest to work closely with cardiologists and scientists to develop and test new procedures in animals and in a small number of patients. Hands-on participation is required. We invite technologists with industry experience as medical device applications specialists. Job-related travel is not required, but expert knowledge of device technology, cardiovascular anatomy, pathophysiology, hemodynamics, catheterization, and imaging is required. Due to the highly specialized nature of this work, the candidate will receive on-the-job training. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
