RN-Cath Lab & Special Procedures
Rotating and on-call coverage

Displaying exceptional versatility and self-motivation, the experienced cath lab or EP nurse we select for this versatile role will possess the exceptional people skills, leadership ability, and self-initiative to float between our cath lab and special procedures areas. Reporting to the director of the cardiac cath lab, this individual will provide quality nursing care and assume total responsibility for patients undergoing cardiac cath lab procedures.

This person will assist in all special procedures performed in the CCL in a variety of roles under the direct supervision of the director of the CCL and/or the attending cardiologist. Responsibilities include assisting physicians in the preparation of patients for and in the performance of interventional procedures including cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, valvuopasty, venous procedures, EP procedures, and implantation of pacemakers and implantable cardioverter-defibrillators.

Required Credentials

  • Current licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Illinois.
  • Bachelor's degree OR associate's degree with current enrollment in a BSN program or enrollment within six months of hire and completion within three years.
  • At least one year of experience in a cardiac intensive care unit (CICU) or a medical intensive care unit (MICU) involving the care of cardiac patients.
  • Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
  • The interpersonal skills essential to dealing with patients, physicians, and other personnel.
  • The analytical skills necessary to assess patients and evaluate the effectiveness of new methods and equipment.

Preferred Credentials

  • One or more years of prior hospital experience.
  • Cardiac cath lab experience.
