Description

ABOUT OUR NEW CARDIAC CATH LAB SERVICE

  • Central Peninsula Hospital is looking forward to bringing a new cardiac catherization lab to the community.  Construction on the cath lab's 3500-square-foot area built within the hospital's newest building space will be completed in September 2019. The cath lab includes 4 pre/post procedure rooms, waiting areas and office spaces.
  • Both techs and RNs are eligible for a CRITICAL POSITION BONUS equal to $15,000.00 as well as RELOCATION ASSISTANCE.

CARDIOVASCULAR TECH

  • POSITION SUMMARY:  Under general supervision, provides technical support and assistance to the physician during diagnostic and invasive cardiovascular and interventional radiology procedures. Performs scrub and hemodynamic monitoring duties with cardiac catheterizations, vascular and interventional radiology procedures using clinical knowledge, technical skills, and professional judgment in accordance with professional and departmental standards and protocols. Assists in holding area. Provides care assessment prior, during and post procedural care and instruction to patients. Prepares and maintains all pertinent information related to procedures.

RN-CATH LAB

  • POSITION SUMMARY: Performs the primary functions of a Registered Nurse in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the care of all patients in Cardiac Cath Lab Services during his or her shift.  Is responsible for meeting the established standards of Intensive Nursing Practice, for managing all assigned personnel, supplies, and equipment in the unit, and for promoting teamwork with physicians and personnel of other departments.
    • Under general supervision, performs professional nursing, technical and administrative duties as they relate to the cardiac services department as assigned. Perform circulate, scrub and hemodynamic monitoring duties with diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures, interventional radiology procedures, holding area procedures, and Imaging Department nursing care support using clinical knowledge, technical skills and professional judgment in accordance with professional and departmental standards and protocols to include moderate sedation.   Provides care, assessment prior, during and post-procedural care and instruction to patients.  Prepares and maintains all pertinent information related to procedures. 

Job Requirement

CARDIOVASCULAR TECH

  • REQUIREMENTS:  Graduate from an approved school of radiologic technology; two (2) years in diagnostic and/or interventional cardiac catheterization and interventional radiology lab; American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist or exam eligible at time of hire (RCIS) or CVT with four (4) years of cath lab experience; BLSP, ACLS, PALS certification; demonstrates clinical competence in basic cardiac physiology/pathology, 12-Lead EKG interpretation; physiologic monitoring (intra cardiac pressure waveform knowledge), pacemaker operations (implantable and external) and other radiographic equipment related to cardiac care. 
  • PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:  Four (4) years in combination cardiac catheterization and interventional radiology lab; ARRT with Advanced Level Certification in Cardiac Interventional Radiography; Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist

RN-CATH LAB

  • REQUIREMENTS:  Graduate of a school of nursing; minimum of two (2) years nursing experience in cardiac cath or interventional radiology; experience to include patients undergoing moderate sedation; current Alaska Registered Nurse license; CPR certification through the American Heart Association (AHA); ACLS certification through AHA upon hire; PALS or ENPC certification through AHA within six (6) months of hire; demonstrates clinical competence in basic cardiac physiology/pathology, 12-Lead EKG interpretation; physiologic monitoring (intra cardiac pressure waveform knowledge), pacemaker operations (implantable and external) and other equipment related to cardiac care; ability to use radiographic equipment as requested or assigned. 
  • PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:  Bachelor of Science in Nursing; four (4) or more years nursing experience in cardiac cath and interventional radiology; experience to include patients undergoing moderate sedation
